Jack & Lee Rosen JCC

Accessibility Policy

Effective date: November 1, 2026

1. Our Commitment and Scope

The Jack & Lee Rosen Jewish Community Center, Inc. (the “JCC”) is committed to making our website, programs, services and facility accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We welcome people of all faiths, backgrounds and abilities, and we work to give every visitor, member, participant and family an equal opportunity to take part in JCC life.

This policy applies to:

  • Our website, www.rosenjcc.org, and the online registration, payment and member tools linked from it.
  • Our campus at 11184 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32836.
  • JCC programs and events, including early childhood, camp, after-school, fitness, aquatics, arts and senior programs, whether held on or off campus.
  • Printed and digital communications, such as newsletters, forms and program guides.

We follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act where it applies, and Florida law, and we aim to go beyond minimum requirements where we can.

2. Website and Digital Accessibility

We aim for our website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines help make content usable for people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have mobility, cognitive or learning disabilities.

Our ongoing efforts include:

  • Providing text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • Supporting keyboard navigation and compatibility with common screen readers.
  • Using clear headings, readable fonts and sufficient color contrast.
  • Labeling forms, including registration and donation forms, so they can be completed with assistive technology.
  • Adding captions to new videos and offering accessible versions of documents such as PDFs on request.
  • Reviewing the site periodically and training staff who publish content.

Limits. Some content may not yet fully meet these standards, including older documents and pages. Some features are provided by third parties, such as payment processors, registration platforms, maps and social media, and we cannot fully control their accessibility. When we choose vendors, we consider accessibility, and we will help you complete any task you cannot finish online.

Alternative access. If any part of the website is hard to use, contact us (Section 5). We will provide the information or complete the registration, payment or donation with you by phone, email or in person, at no extra cost.

3. Facility, Programs and Communication

Facility. Our campus offers accessible parking, entrances, restrooms and routes to all program areas, and our facility and parking lot are fully accessible. If a feature is temporarily unavailable, such as during repairs, we will try to post notice and offer an alternative.

Programs. We make reasonable modifications to policies, practices and procedures so people with disabilities can take part in JCC programs, including camp, early childhood and fitness. We assess each request individually, in partnership with the participant or family. We may decline a modification only if it would fundamentally alter the nature of the program, create an undue burden, or pose a direct threat to health or safety that cannot be reduced by a reasonable modification.

Service animals. Service animals, as defined by the ADA, are welcome in all areas open to the public, including the pool deck, though they may not enter the pool water. A service animal must be under its handler’s control. Staff may ask only whether the animal is required because of a disability and what task it has been trained to perform. Emotional support and therapy animals are not service animals under the ADA.

Communication. On request, we provide auxiliary aids and services to communicate effectively, such as large-print or electronic materials, sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices or captioning for events. We provide these at no cost to the individual.

Companions and caregivers. Personal care attendants who assist a participant with a disability may accompany them. Attendants receive free admission to the JCC but may be required to purchase tickets for ticketed events.

4. Requesting an Accommodation

Anyone may request an accommodation, auxiliary aid or alternative format. You do not need to use special words or provide medical records, though we may ask for information needed to plan the right support.

  1. Contact us by email, phone or in person (Section 5), or note your needs on a program registration form.
  2. Tell us early when you can. For interpreters, captioning or program modifications, we ask for at least 10 days’ notice before an event, and 14–30 days before camp or early childhood enrollment begins. We will still try to meet requests made later.
  3. We follow up. A staff member will respond within 3 business days to discuss your needs and options.
  4. We confirm the plan. We will tell you what we can provide. If we cannot provide the specific accommodation requested, we will explain why and offer an effective alternative.

Information you share about a disability is kept confidential and used only to arrange your accommodation.

5. Feedback, Concerns and Contact

We welcome feedback on how we can improve accessibility. If you encounter a barrier on our website or campus, or are not satisfied with how a request was handled, please let us know.

How to raise a concern. Contact our Accessibility Coordinator with a description of the issue, the date, and the web page, program or location involved. We will acknowledge your concern within 3 business days and aim to respond in writing within 10 business days. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may ask for review by the President of the JCC’s Board of Directors, whose decision is final within the JCC. Using this process does not limit your right to file a complaint with a government agency, such as the U.S. Department of Justice.

The JCC does not retaliate against anyone who requests an accommodation or raises an accessibility concern.
